Boiler Hot Water Temp Reset

A hot water reset control loop measures the outside air temperature

About

A hot water reset control loop measures the outside air temperature; this information is used to estimate demand for heating load as the outdoor temperature varies.

The hot water supply temperature set point is adjusted up and down in an inverse linear relation to outside air temperature.

The typical range for conventional boilers is to vary the supply water temperature set point from 140 to 180 °F (60 to 82 °C) as the outside temperature varies from 60 to 0 °F (16 to −18 °C)
